It has been a busy and fun few months in the Butterfly room. We would like to welcome our new children and families into our room. All of the children are settling in very well and feel a sense of belonging in our room. Miss Paige and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the older children in helping their new friends feel safe and secure in their new surroundings.
Over the past few weeks the children have been extending their learning in a lot of different ways and by learning different things. The children have been learning about road safety, the solar system, and the beach, just to name a few, and these learning opportunities come from what the children are interested in, for instance, what they do on the weekend.
These experiences encourage the children to further expand on their learning, learn new things and fine tune what they may already know eg, you have to hold your mum or dad’s hands when crossing the road, what the traffic light colours mean, that the sun is orange and there are moon and stars in the sky.
The response from families regarding their children’s learning has been wonderful and very much appreciated. The children are also doing a fantastic job of contributing to group discussions and are becoming a lot more confident in voicing their opinions.
We have also been doing lots of learning in our everyday play with our colours, exploring our experimentation and trial and error skills whilst doing puzzles and exploring our shapes and colours when doing shape sorters. The children have also been doing a great job of exploring their counting skills and school readiness skills.
Thank you,
Miss Cindy
